Liverpool’s capture of Oxlade Chamberlain from under Chelsea’s noses will make the upcoming tribunal to decide the transfer fee to be paid by Liverpool to Chelsea for Dominic Solanke a very tense affair.
Chelsea cannot be very pleased by the manner in which they missed out on Oxlade- Chamberlain after an initial fee was agreed with Arsenal.
Solanke had been a Chelsea Youth player since he was 7 and the initial offer made by Liverpool was way below what Chelsea were to settle upon. He was the best performer in the U20 World Cup in South Korea and played a huge role in England’s success.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was intent on going to Anfield for footballing reasons and Chelsea moving first allowed Liverpool to sign him for an acceptable price from a club never keen to do business with them since Arsenal tried to sign Luis Suarez for £40m plus £1 from them in 2013.
Since joining Liverpool, he has come off the bench in the Champions League and Premier League this season.
It will be interesting to see how the two clubs come to a mutual agreement.
