Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he wants three important signings in the next transfer window before extending his contract with the club. He wanted some fresh faces during the last summer as well, however, there were only two players brought into the squad. The widely known Spanish coach has now put his foot down and expects his demands to be met before agreeing to extend his stay at Etihad.

Manchester City hasn’t performed up to expectations in the Premier League so far. While many bookmakers and punters had hoped they would give a stiff competition to Liverpool at the top of the table, the team is currently placed third behind leaders Liverpool, and Leicester City in the second place. Anyone who pays heed to good sports betting advice would know who to bet on this season for the Premier League trophy!

Keen on multiple signings

Going by reliable sources, Guardiola is asking for multiple new signings during the next summer, with fresh faces at the forward, left-back and centre back positions at the top of his list. The talented 48-year-old coach started the ongoing season with just three recognised centre back players and has witnessed Manchester City struggling a lot after the Aymeric Laporte’s injury in August 2019.

The preferred centre back of the team had to undergo knee surgery owing to an injury that he suffered in the match against Brighton. He is yet to make a return to the starting 11. Laporte’s injury left Guardiola with only John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, and hence he has had no option but to use Fernandinho, the defensive midfielder in the form of centre back.

Guardiola has also asked for another left-back player as Benjamin Mendy and Angelino are the only two choices he currently has. Mendy was nursing a knee injury at the start of the season, and ever since his return, none of the left-backs have managed to cement their places in the team owing to below-par performances.

Not just these players, Pep is also keen on bagging a forward who could serve as a potential replacement for Leroy Sane going forward. The 23-year-old player hasn’t been involved in any of Manchester City’s games this season after picking up an injury during City’s win over Liverpool in the Community Shield. He damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, however, Guardiola is positive that the talented forward will soon make a return to the team and contribute to City’s campaign in the ongoing season. But many believe that this is Sane’s last season at Etihad as he hasn’t signed a new contract with the club as yet. Bayern Munich had expressed interest in buying the German player last summer, but his injuries postponed their plans. It’s highly likely that they will come gunning for him again in 2020 with yet another offer.
