Sergio Aguero
The Argentine has been in red hot form and looks like a great captaincy pick ahead of Manchester City’s fixture against the Toffees. The City forward recorded an unreal tally of 5 big chances this week, with 2 big chances created to his credit as well. Without exaggeration, it is safe to say that had he and his teammates been more clinical, Aguero could have possibly recorded one of the biggest ever hauls in a single GW in the history of FPL. His tally of 19 shots inside the box in the last four gameweeks is 6 more than any other player has managed and he has now recorded the highest number of big chances of all players in the game over the season.
Although historically Aguero is known for his hauls in home games and not away matches, City’s opponents Everton have shipped 9 goals in 4 matches and only Wolves and Watford have shipped more during this period.
Mohammed Salah
Liverpool and Mo Salah travel to Sheffield United on Saturday and an assist against Chelsea means Salah has returned points in every match bar 1 in six gameweeks this season delivering a total of 7 goal involvements. Although the Egyptian is still awaiting his first goal on the road this season, he has delivered 2 assists in three away matches. Salah returned a tally of 9 goals and 5 assists away from home last season, with only Callum Wilson and Harry Kane directly contributing to more.
In the last four gameweeks, Salah has had 12 attempts on goal with 10 of them coming inside the box, recording 4 big chances. Although Sheffield aren’t the worst possible team defensively, Liverpool will be a very stern challenge for them and with Salah being on penalty duties as well, he could well be among the points on Saturday.
Harry Kane
Although Kane and Spurs haven’t been on top form this season, a mouth-watering fixture this weekend could make Kane one of the best captaincy options this gameweek. The England international scored his fourth goal of the season against the Foxes and has now had an FPL return in his last 3 outings. He racked up a total of 6 shots on the day, 5 of which were inside the box and 4 on target. Only five players have attempted more shots in the last three gameweeks, with only Tammy Abraham and Deulofeu having more than Kane’s six efforts on target.
Spurs rank fourth for total attempts on goal during home games this season with only Manchester City, Arsenal and Watford racking up more than the North London side. The Saints have conceded a total of 81 shots in 6 games, giving massive confidence for the not-so-goal shy Kane, and with penalty duties in his locker as well, he could have a double-digit score coming this weekend.
Differential Options.
Heung-Min Son –
Owned by just 8.6% of FPL Managers, the South Korean could provide a great differential captaincy option. Spurs have a favorable home fixture as they welcome the Saints to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In the last four matches, only Arsenal’s Pepe (17) has had more attempts on goal than Son, with the South Korean having 16 attempts, 10 of which came from inside the box, bettered by only Raheem Sterling. Son being rested midweek in the EFL Cup, looks prime to lead the line along with Kane against Southampton, who have already conceded nine goals in 6 matches so far.
Tammy Abraham –
Tammy Abraham will be looking to add to his total of 7 goals this weekend as Brighton visit Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old leads the way for shots on target in the last four gameweeks, while only Aguero has taken more shots inside the box or been afforded more big chances. Chelsea have scored 11 goals from 13 big chances during that period and only Liverpool and Manchester City have fared better in that aspect. Although it’s worth noting, only two of Abraham’s goals have come at home this season, both in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United. Only 7 players have had more shots inside the box during home matches. Brighton have conceded four goals on the road this season and rank 8th for shots inside the box conceded and 11th for shots on target conceded in away matches.
