Prolific Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland may have more than two years left on his contract but the player is under pressure to outline his future. His current employers are aware that he can leave in the summer if other clubs choose to trigger a relatively low release clause.

Haaland was initially given until the end of January 2022 to make a decision but that deadline may well pass. Whatever happens across the remainder of the season, it looks more certain that the Norwegian international will be moving on soon.

Rapid Rise

Haaland was born in England where his father, Alf Inge Haaland, was playing for Leeds United at the time. Having committed his early years to Norwegian football, the young Erling Haaland signed his first professional contract with Bryne.

A subsequent move to Molde first alerted the wider football community of his prolific scoring ability. After claiming 20 goals in 50 games for the club, Haaland made the switch to Red Bull Salzburg in 2018. In Austria, he averaged better than a goal a game and that record saw Dortmund sign Haaland in 2020.

At the time of writing, Haaland is maintaining his stunning ratio. His first 79 games in Germany have produced no fewer than 80 goals and it’s no wonder that the major clubs around Europe are believed to be chasing his signature.

Dortmund’s Targets

Borussia Dortmund are the closest challengers to Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table but BVB are given little chance of overhauling the deficit. According to sports betting sites in India and beyond, Bayern are red hot favourites to lift yet another title at the end of 2021/22.

With odds supplied from sportsbooks attached to asiabet.org, the markets put Borussia Dortmund down as a distant second favourite. Realistically, those are the only two sides in with a chance of the trophy this season.

With several weeks left in the current campaign, that market has scope to fluctuate and asiabet.org will continue to report on any future changes. Anyone who lands on the website can also take in news and opinion pieces relating to the German Bundesliga and to football in general.

With all of that useful information to hand, it’s also possible to take things a step further. Each of the recommended panel of sportsbooks are welcoming new customers and many have generous opening bonuses on the table.

Once registered, there is the possibility of using additional promotions while effective help options and a range of deposit and withdrawal methods provide back up.

It’s a logical website to visit for anyone following German football but just how far can Borussia Dortmund go without Erling Haaland?

What Next for Erling Haaland?

The list of clubs linked with the striker’s signature carries no surprises. English Premier League Champions Manchester City have the capacity to match Haaland’s transfer fee and wages, and they appear to be at the front of the queue.

Local rivals Manchester United have also been linked while Chelsea complete an interested English trio.

Elsewhere, it may just be the case that German football followers haven’t seen the last of Erling Haaland. If the player wishes to stay in the country, Bayern Munich can match his terms and his ambitions.

Bayern already have one of the most prolific strikers in history. Robert Lewandowski has scored over 300 goals for the club since he made the switch from Dortmund in 2014. The Polish international remains a potent force but he will be 34 before the start of next season and Bayern may just feel that it’s time to move on.

Isolated rumours have also suggested that Real Madrid may be looking to table a bid.

The Verdict

If Erling Haaland does decide to leave Borussia Dortmund, there will be no shortage of interested parties. The player has averaged at better than a goal a game since leaving his native Norway and that type of return is going to bring all the big clubs into the mix.

The most likely destination could be Manchester City. The club have a need for a striker having missed out on Harry Kane in the summer and Haaland is an ideal replacement.
