Manchester City agree £50m fee for Tottenham’s Kyle Walker
Manchester City are now prepared to pay the £50m fee it will take to sign Kyle Walker, report the Telegraph.
The right-back has been a target of City since the end of last season and has made no secret he would be happy to leave north London.
After releasing Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna, Pep Guardiola is currently without a natural senior right-back. He had hoped to sign Dani Alves, who played under him at Barcelona, but the Brazilian was snatched away by Paris Saint-Germain at the last moment.
Walker has been at Tottenham since 2009 and has spent the last six seasons as first choice right-back. The 27-year-old has developed enormously under Mauricio Pochettino but is said to have fallen out with the Argentine on more than one occasion.
Since that deal was announced on Wednesday, City have acted quickly to ensure they don’t miss out on another target. They had previously been unwilling to go above £40m for Walker but have now reportedly agreed to pay the £50m Spurs are after.
The £50m fee would match the world record transfer fee for a defender, paid by Paris Saint-Germain for David Luiz three years ago.
Juventus demand €40m from AC Milan for Bonucci.
Vincenzo Montella has targeted the Italy international, but the Serie A champions are holding out for more than Milan are currently offering
AC Milan have bid €30 million for defender Leonardo Bonucci, but Juventus are unwilling to sell the 30-year-old for less than €40m.
Milan had initially been in contact with Bonucci’s agent Alessandro Lucci, who also represents Milan’s Andrea Bertolacci, to assess the possibility of a switch from Juventus Stadium to the San Siro. Following these initial meetings, talks have opened between Milan sporting director Marco Fassone and Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta.
A possibility to help push through the transfer would be the inclusion of Mattia De Sciglio in the deal. The full-back has been linked with a move to China, but Milan could use the 24-year-old as an addition to sweeten the deal.
Bonucci has previously played at the San Siro with Inter Milan but left the club in 2009 after failing to break into the first team. He then spent one season at Bari before joining Juventus, where he has played over 300 games and won six Serie A titles, three Coppas Italia and three Supercoppas Italiana.
