We’re back with the Captaincy Article ahead of Gameweek 10. With easy home matches, Manchester City and Liverpool players dominate the captaincy options this week.
A Manchester City Player (Aguero/Sterling/KDB)
Manchester City come into gameweek 10 having one of the best fixtures attacking wise among any other team which makes the likes of Aguero, Sterling, and KDB as one of the best captaincy options this week.
Although Jesus offers an alternative to Aguero for the number 9 spot, the Argentine has earned starts in all 4 home matches this season, returning 4 goals and 2 assists and historically as well, he’s been a beast at the Etihad making him a great option this week. Only Abraham has bettered his 15 shots inside the box at home turf. The City forward has amassed a tally of 12 goals and 4 assists in all home matches this calendar year.

Kevin de Bruyne potentially offers the most secure route for captaincy in terms of game time. The Belgian has returned in every game he’s started this season bar 1. He’s returned double-digit scores in every home game he’s started this season, amassing 2 goals and 5 assists, with an average of 13.7 points per game. He also ranks top with a tally of 6 chances created and 2 big chances created per game during home matches. Villa have also conceded 7 goals from 9 big chances conceded in recent weeks.
Raheem Sterling completes the pack after recent impressive performances for club and country. Guardiola was full of praise for the English international after his 11 minute hattrick midweek, also assisting both of Aguero’s goals. Sterling was extremely unlucky not to have returned a huge haul against Palace last week as well. He created 2 big chances during the game also having fired 4 shots inside the box out of which 2 were big chances. Over the last 4 matches, no midfielder has had more shots inside the box with only Sadio Mane having more big chances over this period. Provided the Englishman starts against Aston Villa, he could be on the cards for a major haul.
Sadio Mane
Sadio Mane enters gameweek 10 as another strong captaincy candidate with a home game against the out of sorts Tottenham Hotspurs. Although the Senegalese has blanked in 3 out of his last 4 games, he’s still posting impressive stats and has returned points in the home game, while all of his 3 blanks came away from home. The Liverpool winger has fired a total of 8 attempts over this period, 6 from inside the box and 4 of them being on target. He’s also had 4 big chances during this spell, top among all midfielders. Talking about home games this season, Mane has fired a tally of 10 shots, 6 of them on target, 4 of them being big chances. Talking about their opponents, only Norwich have conceded more shots on target than Spurs this season, keeping just 1 clean sheet. Only Aston Villa have conceded more shots than the North London side in away games this season, while no other team has faced more shots away from home from Spurs.
With Mane having scored 12 goals in his last 10 home matches and with him facing a below-par Spurs side, the Senegalese could be in for a big haul at Anfield.
Differential Option – Neal Maupay
The 0.6% owned Brighton striker is our differential captain pick of the week. While most of the FPL Managers might find this a bit insane, stats might try and prove otherwise.
Over the last 4 gameweeks, no other forward has had more shots on goal than the French striker, who has fired 16 shots on goal, more than the likes of Aguero, Abraham, and Aubameyang; while only Abraham and Ings (13) have had more shots inside the box than Maupay (12). Overall home matches at The Amex, the Brighton striker has had a tally of 11 shots, 10 of them coming from inside the box and 5 on target.

Their opponents Everton, although have had a strong defense away from home, we still expect the Brighton striker to find joy against the Toffee’s defence. At home, Brighton have had a total of 59 shots have played just 4 games.
Although Maupay isn’t the best captaincy option this week, we’re going mega differential placing our money on the French striker, who with an ownership of JUST 0.6%, could rocket you up the rankings if he gets returns this weekend ahead of a favorable clash against Everton.
Thank you for taking the time out and having a read. Hope this article helps you nail the captaincy this week.
