Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea are a little behind Manchester City and Liverpool in terms of quality but can make up for that by relying on team spirit, good atmosphere in the dressing room, Sarri’s tactical genius and Eden Hazard.
Many people following Chelsea would have considered finishing in the Champions League spots as a big success for their team, but the Blues’ early season form in which they broke several undefeated records has given rise to loftier ambitions, such as winning the league.
This might be a little farfetched, but it is not out of the realm of reality, especially if Sarri is given one more year to perfect what he has started. As a matter of fact, even Guardiola was given an additional year to win the league with a much better team than Sarri has at the moment.
Play to Morata’s Strengths
One of the problems early on this season was the fact that neither of Chelsea’s two first-team strikers could find the net. Giroud was scoreless for ages and Morata was in a perpetual fight with opponents, referees, and even with himself.
However, as the season progressed Sarri realized that the best way to increase the goals tally for his strikers was to play to their strengths. This is especially true for Morata who has to be given the freedom to play his game and to be happy if he is to score.
This means letting Morata attack facing the goal and trying to find spaces behind defenders instead of forcing him to play with his back to goal, to hold off defenders, and to play a much more physical type of football. The man himself has said that he is delighted with the change of role he is given, and it is obvious that the goals started coming.
Find an Alternative to Jorginho
Chelsea’s complete attacking play goes through Jorginho. This is great as it allows Sarri’s protégé to impose the style of play that he wants, but it is also a problem for the Blues manager since closing down Jorginho leaves Chelsea without its only playmaker from the back, effectively strangling their attacking play.
If Chelsea are to win the title Sarri has to find a way to either sometimes bypass Jorginho or to use Fabregas in the deep-lying playmaker role as he is a different type of player to the Brazilian.
Not finding an alternative to Jorginho would be a huge gamble for Sarri who is known for meticulously analyzing opponents and is not the type of person who would gamble. If he ever were to gamble he would probably first click here, look at all of the casino reviews, analyze the best casino for him, and only then visit the casino.
Keep Eden Hazard Happy
Keeping Hazard happy is Sarri’s best hope for winning silverware. The Belgian is currently the best player in the English Premier League and only with him in the squad and with him happy will Chelsea have a chance to win the title.
